Earl Christie Photography bio picture

Thanks for checking out my blog

I've always seen the world as though I were looking at it through a camera, focusing on details or color and shape in my mind, and freezing moments that were special and dear to me. As a kid, the plastic viewfinder of my Kodak Instamatic seemed a natural way to frame my experiences and share them with others. Later, studying film and working in television revealed the power of using images to tell stories. And that's what I do today; tell stories of blossoming love, deep family connection, and momentous occasions though images framed in my minds eye.

If the work on my blog appeals to you, and think you might like to have me tell the story of your day, click the 'contact' menu above to let me know.

Thanks.

earl.

Best Wedding Album 2010

court-of-honor-2010

This is the news that I’ve been building up to over the past couple of days. I’m just thrilled beyond belief to be able to announce that my album “Lake George Wedding” was presented with the Court of Honor Award for being the highest scoring album in the Professional Photographers of Massachusetts 2010 Print competition.

Wow!

In competition, an album is judged both on the artistry and technical proficiency of the individual images it contains, as well as how well those images combine to give the viewer a feeling for the way the day unfolded, and the personalities and relationships of the participants. That’s why I’m especially proud when my albums do well in competition, because I pride myself in telling a story with my images.

Thank you to Kelly and Nick for inviting me to share their beautiful day with them.

You can check out the album here:

DePrisco Jewelers Wedding Band Event & Special Offer

Wedding Bands

Have you decided on your Wedding Bands yet? If not then you owe it to yourselves to head down to DePrisco Jewelers in for their 19th Annual Wedding Band Event. During this event they have an expanded selection of wedding bands at great prices. The event started this past weekend and from what I heard it was busy, busy, busy. It runs until March 20th.

While you’re at DePrisco’s, check out the gallery of large prints I’m exhibiting there. They are all photos from the past year and for many of the images this is the first time they’ve printed at exhibition size. I love big prints!

And if you purchase your wedding bands at DePrisco’s, you can also get a complimentary engagement session if you book any of my collections. Just ask for the postcard describing the special offer while you’re there drooling over the wedding bands.

You know, I just realized that I have a nice little collection of their DePrisco’s little dark blue boxes at home. They are where I purchased my wife’s engagement ring, our wedding wedding bands, and any number of gifts. To me, DePrisco’s is more than just a Jeweler, they’re family.

Wedding Photojournalist Association Contest Image

Award Winning Boston Wedding Photographer

I was away for the past few days without a good internet connection and I saw that the winners for the Wedding Photojournalist Association’s (WPJA) Q4 2009 Contest had been announced. It was killing me to not be able to check out the results and when I finally got back to boston, it was the first thing I checked out.

I’m proud that one of my favorite photos from the past year placed fourth in the Wedding Details category. I’m especially happy that one of the judges commented on the moment-driven nature of the shot, which is what really makes it for me. Earlier this year, this image placed in the Top 10 in the First Dance category of contest by the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP).

I’m really happy I said yes when fellow ShootStyle member and Maine Wedding Photographer Andree Kehn asked if I wanted to help her out with this wedding!
