Thanks for checking out my blog

I've always seen the world as though I were looking at it through a camera, focusing on details or color and shape in my mind, and freezing moments that were special and dear to me. As a kid, the plastic viewfinder of my Kodak Instamatic seemed a natural way to frame my experiences and share them with others. Later, studying film and working in television revealed the power of using images to tell stories. And that's what I do today; tell stories of blossoming love, deep family connection, and momentous occasions though images framed in my minds eye.

If the work on my blog appeals to you, and think you might like to have me tell the story of your day, click the 'contact' menu above to let me know.

Thanks.

earl.

Wedding Preview: Maine Lakeside Wedding

I just traveled up to Maine to document the wedding of Mandy and Tom. I’d been looking forward to shooting their day for a couple of reasons: one, I looooove shooting lakeside weddings, and two, their wedding was close by my ShootStyle buddy and Maine Wedding Photographer Andree Kehn.

Sometimes locations in rural New England towns can be hard to find, but I had no problem spotting exactly where Mandy and Tom’s was being held.

I arrived just as Mandy and her helpers were getting ready.

Captain kept a close eye on everything, especially lunch.

Mandy wore a beautiful sand colored wedding gown.

Tom and the men looked sharp in chocolate brown suit coats over tan pants. Their boutonnières each featured a different fishing lure. Cool!

Mandy’s bridesmaids were fabulous in black cocktail dresses and the Jr. bridesmaids and flower girl complemented the adults in mocha dresses with chocolate sashes and super-fun flower flip-flops.

It was a simple ceremony by the lake under a gorgeous arch of vines, flowers and crystals. The ring bearer carried Mandy and Tom’s rings on a bamboo fishing pole.

The best man and Mandy’s mom gave a couple of heartfelt speeches,  then dinner was served at the longest table I’ve ever seen at a wedding.

The cake was delicious as the fellow below will attest. Sadly, I don’t think Captain got his share.

When darkness fell, Tom built a blazing campfire to ward off the evening’s chill.

Later in the evening, when a lot of the guests had drifted to the campfire Tom and Mandy shared a dance together in front of the house.

Fort Taber State Park – and a bit of Trash the Dress

When my ShootStyle friends and I do group shoots, we often recruit models from Model Mayhem, a site that connects models, photographers, makeup artists, stylists and others. This past weekend a number of folks from that site got together for a BBQ at Fort Taber State Park in New Bedford. I was looking forward to chowing down on some pulled pork and meeting some great photographers who I only knew through their portfolios work. I did take my camera, but only took a handful of shots. Here’s a few that I liked…

First Heather, who beat the heat in the shallows…

Next, the lovely Mulan who explored the graffiti covered underground ruins…
