Exchange Conference Center Wedding Preview

Nikki and Chris had a late September wedding at the Exchange Conference Center in Boston’s Seaport District. I arrived at The Renaissance Hotel where Nikki was getting her makeup done and the first thing I noticed was another happy couple on the windowsill. Stacey Frasca made sure that Nikki’s face glowed.

Chris got his first glimpse at Nikki in the lobby, while friends and family looked on.

Then we were off to the harbor for a round of pre-ceremony photos.

Can I just say that I love the Exchange Conference Center? Few venues evoke Boston’s history as a fishing port like the ECC. It commands the end of the city’s still-working Fish Pier and provides a fantastic panorama of the harbor.

The wedding party and families gathered upstairs to witness the Ketubah ceremony, followed immediately by the main event.

After the ceremony, the Exchange Hall was quickly transformed for the elegant reception with tables featuring towering floral centerpieces and colorful orchids floating in water.

From their first dance, to the hora, through the evening’s waning moments, the fun and excitement of their wedding was evident on Chris and Nikki’s faces.

The Club at New Seabury – Cape Cod Wedding Preview

Having grown up in Massachusetts, I may be a little biased in thinking that Cape Cod is one of the most beautiful places in world. It’s best known as a sumemrtime place, but my favorite time of year on the Cape is the early fall just after Labor Day. The end of summer brings an end to traffic jams at the canal bridges and an end to crowded beaches. This tranquil season is when Kara and Michael invited their friends and family to New Seabury to join them in celebrating their wedding.

On the morning of their wedding, Michael shot his best game of golf ever, then got ready at a nearby cottage.

Kara prepared at a house near the club. Her dad waited downstairs as she got into the gown. It was an emotional moment seeing his little girl dressed as a bride.

Michael was overjoyed seeing Kara for the first time on their wedding day.

The ceremony began with Kara’s 91 year old Nana leading the processional.

New Seabury’s greens made a lovely backdrop for a few posed photos.

Kara wanted a photo showing everyone who shared the day with them so we asked folks to gather behind the clubhouse after the ceremony.

Then Michael took Kara on a short jaunt past the first hole to the beach where they enjoyed the sunset and had a few moments to themselves.

Back at the clubhouse, Kara made a few quick touch ups to fix her wind blown hair, and soon they were introduced into their reception.

After the toasts the party swung into high gear. The evening’s dancing began with a Horah and ended with an Albanian line dance.

A South Shore Wedding

I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding to kick off my season than Jessica’s and Michael’s. A military couple, they live in Virginia, but returned home to the Boston’s South Shore to tie the knot with family. Jessica’s day started at the Fisher Experience salon before heading to her parents house to get ready.

Jessica and Michael chose to hold their ceremony at the stately First Congregational Church in Randolph. They incorporated many Filipino wedding traditions into their ceremony. I love Michael’s expression as he waits at the end of the aisle while Jessica starts down with her father.

I guess not everyone found the ceremony as moving as I did.

The reception was held at Generations in Avon. The toasts were heartfelt and fun and the cake cutting was playfully messy.

After the formalities, DJ Raffi rocked the house for the rest of the night, laying down a great beat and sparking up the dance floor with his funky light show.
